Lipstick Jungle Keeps It Old School With Flip Phones
I really enjoyed last night's premiere of
Lipstick Jungle.
Still, I was shocked that the show — which is about three powerful New York executives trying to balance their careers, families, and friendships — was so devoid of smartphones.
I mean, the cell phones pale in comparison to the ones we've gotten used to seeing on
The Hills and
Gossip Girl. Where's the techie love ladies? Do business execs really use lime green flip phones? Maybe I'm too addicted to my CrackBerry to imagine professional life without one, but see for yourself.

This slideshow is hilarious! Love it!
1Real business people have 2 phones. They use a real cell phone, not a smart phone to call and a blackberry or treo for emails. A lot of corporate bigwigs aren't even allowed to have cameras on their phones for fear of taking photos of sensitive material during meetings.
2i noticed that too and you're right. i have 2 phones and i'm not a high powered business person or anything, but i've got my blackberry/phone and my personal cell.
i liked that they kept it a bit normal - especially since these women are all so powerful!
3I wasn't please with the premiere. Hopefully next week the va va va voom will happen. the only highlight of the night was the young hottie writing his number on her thigh.
4lol Flip phones.
5My aunt is the CFO of a pretty big Corp., but she doesn't have two phones. She has a blackberry.

Cashmere Mafia on ABC is SOOOOOOOOOOO much better and believable. The characters on CM, the shows, the script....totally current, hip and juicy.
7Actually, the fashion designer had a smart phone... look again before she goes on a date.
8Could be the age difference between the characters in the 2 shows.
9I hate Blackberries. I have a Palm Pilot.
10wow. I agree, businesspeople have two phones...and their phone from business is never very fabulous.
Also, LOL PrincessKitty!
11That's true. I saw the slideshow, but I can totally understand how a show with a budget of probably 6-10M/show would have these errors, especially because the production schedules are so accelerated. Good catch, though geeksugar. You should call their prop master and tell that that they've got work to do. I have only one phone and think that if you carry two, you probably should hire a PA...Next!
12ny isn't as into the tech stuff as much as us west coast folk. i was looking at job postings for design assistants and all the west coast ad's wanted photoshop and illustrator experience and everyone in NYC was still doing hand drawn flats. maybe NY'ers are resistant to change?
