Last night when I was watching all of the election coverage on CNN, I couldn't help but notice national correspondent John King tapping a touch-sensitive monitor to show election results across various states.
Described as the "Multi-Touch Collaboration Wall" by its inventor, Jeff Han of Perceptive Pixel, the multitouch display can to showcase animated maps, videos, photos, live streams of websites, and charts.
"It's a stupendous way to explain a lot of complicated data," says David Bohrman, chief producer of CNN's political coverage. This highly interactive display is said to cost around $100,000.

Geek, did you see how Google Maps was showing live primary updates with Twitter? It was pretty darn cool!
1that is sweet!
2That thing was *the* reason I followed the election coverage on CNN.
3I was watching CNN last night. I loved their large touch screen. Cool.
4I want one, lol.
5I am an Education Major and in many schools they have touch screens called Smart Boards that connect to your computer so you can project everything from your computer onto it. They also come with colored pens that write on the screen and can be erased off. They are awesome, and the students love them because they are interactive! Those screens from the coverage last night reminded me a lot of Smart Boards
6We have smart boards in some of our classrooms too, they are fun but they confuse some of the profs (which I must say is very entertaining to watch lol)I kind of want one for myself, I don't know what I would do with it but it seems like a good idea
7Longhorn,
I saw the google site, loved it!
CNN's coverage was their best in years, partly due to all that new tech.
8The touch screen is awesome! They've used it for some other show too, hmm. Maybe Anderson Cooper 360?
Beyond the crazy-awesomeness of the touch screen board, I think analyst John King deserves some major props for his use of it. Not only did he have to know how each state usually votes, but he also had to know how each county in each state usually voted! I was so impressed that not only did he know how to use the touch screen well, but that he could make intelligent statements to go along with it!
9I saw that on cnn last night. Smart boards, Loveleigh? Now if only they had that when I was in high school
