I hope you're not eating right now: A Zune owner is suing Microsoft for injuries he sustained from using his mp3 player, saying that the headphones shocked him and now he experiences bleeding and "fluid leakage" from the ears (!!!). When I stopped gagging and shuddering, I remembered other infamous iPod and cell phone-related injuries. For instance, I know to avoid electrical storms, because of the Colorado kid who was struck by lightning while wearing his iPod and ended up with damaged hearing and burns from the headphone cords.
Aside from dropping an iPod (a 2nd-generation 30GB) on my toe, I have never suffered a gadget-related injury. What about you guys? Tell me your geek pain stories!

I dropped my DS Lite on my toe the other day and actually drew blood:(
1Other than that the most serious injury i've sustained is probably "Playstation thumbs".
twice now I have been shocked (just small) it was unexpected and both unrelated! I was cleaning my daughter's tv screen with a damp cloth, while everything was off but my other hand touched the power button on the satelite receiver above the tv and it turned on at the same time zapping my finger. It was numb for a bit. Also when I unplug my the usb cable from my iPhone while the other end of it is still attached to the computer I will get a little bzz type shock from the metal part. I now unplug it from the computer first lol
2i get shocked a lot, cause i'm so clumsy.
3but mostly i hurt my gagdets
Yes! It happened on Monday... My sneaky little pet bunny had eaten partially thru the cable of my GHD ,and i only realized this after i shocked the cR@P out of my foot! It still hurts ;(
4Yeah ...
5I was traveling by car to the beach listening to my ipod the entire travel. The other day I couldn't listen to nothing. ;~
I went to the doctor and I have to take a lot of medicine and make a very intense clean in my ears. That hurt :T
Not yet, other than breaking nails while installing RAM.
6Hahaha nope can't say I have
7I was shocked from a camera twice.
8dropped my ipod on my foot...tiny thing still hurt like hell!
9I can't wear earbuds - at least, not the ones without the interchangeable silicon covers. Regular earbuds shock me all the time, and always have, and even normal headphones with foam covers shock me in the cold weather.
It's very painful, though I've never had it happen to such an extent that I required medical attention.
10Nope!
11my old laptop (powerbook g4) always shocked me a bit in my wrists. yeow!
12i wonder if this is part of why they went from titanium to aluminum?
13Just the other day my headphones started continuously shocking me until I took them off and threw them away. Thankfully nothing too bad happened to my ears. And I'm never buying those kind of headphones again.
14The old titaniums did pack a bit more of a tingle tdamji
Considering how many
computers and gadgets I have had I am happy to report that I have never been injured or had any fires/meltdowns/explosions with any of it.
I had a cleaning lady run over an AC adapter with the vacuum and chew up the cord. She didn't tell me and shoved it back in the corner. LUCKILY later that night I had to climb under my desk to plug something in and found the Sony adapter melting within itself. No doubt in my mind it would have caused a fire had I not found it.
15I don't know if this counts or not, but well....in my family, we don't buy PCs. We build them.
Well, I had this one mother board that held RAM like it was superglued in, and when I tried to pull the RAM out to replace it, I scraped my hand on the video card and got a huge cut from the first knuckle of my thumb up to about 4 inches on my wrist.
My biggest worry was that I'd bleed on the PC components.
16I've been shocked by earbuds more than once. Now I'm the only dork at the gym with traditional headphones, but man getting shocked in your ears really sucks! LOL! And my eyes are shot from all the time I spend on the computer.
17Matdredalia- awesome! my family build's computers too. never had something that bad happen though.
the worst for me is carpel tunnel. and then my ears hurt when i have those bud-headphones in for too long.
