At the risk of dating myself, I'm just going to put it out there that I was a huge Doogie Howser, MD fan. In fact, I couldn't have been more ecstatic a few years ago when Neil Patrick Harris made a triumphant comeback with Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, which of course led to his awesome role as Barney Stinson on How I Met Your Mother. I watch NPH on HIMYM — a slick, chic geek with his iPhone — and then I remember that this is not the first time he's showcased his onscreen geekiness.

As Doogie Howser, MD, the boy genius-turned-doctor, NPH sat at his ancient IBM PC and tapped out his thoughts daily. That's right, everybody: Doogie was a blogger! Or at least, a blogger in its first form. If Doogie Howser were on TV today, he would have found Blogger and set up shop (with fitsugar on his RSS Reader, of course). So here's to you, Doogie, our beloved old school geek!

oh man.
1he was in that harold and kumar movie and was insane, seeing him old... and kind of crazy.
adorable!
and then frighteningly gross in Harold and Kumar.
2Agreed! I loved Doogie Howser, MD and also love, love, love him in HIMYM. He really makes that show.
3I remember thinking he was so cool on Doogie!
4hahahaha good call..he was a blogger!

I remember when I was a kid I wanted a computer to type all my thoughts down like Doogie! Now
I have a laptop and barely use it
6I love NPH! He is hysterical on How I Met Your Mother. And I think it's great that he is one of the few actors who is willing to come out of the closet and openly admit he is gay. I wish more actors would do that, then it wouldn't be such a big deal.
7I love, love, love Doogie! The idea of being on his RSS feed is such a compliment! Thanks geek!
8oh gahhh. i forgot he blogged.
i remember him grabbing a hand-full of t* & a* in harold n kumar.
9Lmao, that's great.
I love How I Met Your Mother. I just got through watching it.
10now that i think back to the show - you're SOO Right about that. i wouldn't have even thought about the fact that he was one of the first - in the early days of blogging capabilities - when blogging wasn't even a word yet!
11I had such a huge crush on Doogie. I think he was probably one of my first crushes actually. I was like 8 and I just thought he was the best thing since sliced bread. lol.
Whenever I hear the Doogie theme music it makes me smile.
