I like the idea of going to work in an environmentally-sound vehicle — especially one that can get me a great workout! But this one, dubbed the Imagine LMV does bring to mind a certain Stone Age family who have been sporting this kind of ride for ages. Starting at $15,000, this human powered gem has you rowing your way to a greener earth. But instead of messing up your pedi, a la Wilma Flinstone, your upper body is what gets you moving.
However, other differences between this human-powered car and the Flinstone's hot rod are pretty futuristic. A standard electric/human-powered hybrid motor (recharged by you, of course) can take you up to 30 mph while you and your pals head off to the stone quarry, er, I mean work. Plus with add ons like an iPod adapter, navigation system, internet connectivity, and biometric devices (so you can see how hard you're rowing, natch) really does make it an eco-lover's dream! With the Imagine LMV hitting the streets just in time for Earth Day 2008, would this human-powered car be something that you would drive?

I couldn't do it. The idea is wonderful, but I couldn't do it.
1I don't think that I have the physical strength for that. lol And I live in Michigan, so unless it has some kind of cover, it's not gonna work.

6I try it. However the problem would the SF drunk party kids and the Crackheads from stealing it. I mean bike locks don't really even keep bikes or motorcycles safe.
Plus I could be like arm-wrestling competition eventually if I "drove" from SF to LA.

8This reminds me more of a golf cart than a car. But where I live (Palm Springs area, big retirements area) there are TONS of golf carts, and golf cart parking and such. People drive them to the grocery store. So this would be awesome I think!!

12Great idea, but i don't think it would work for me. It would be better than a bike for someone with a couple kids, probably safer to drive than a bike with the motorists in my anti bike city

14Wow, something that moves at 30mph at its speediest, and for only $15000! What a deal! I don't think so, when you can buy a golf cart that's far more luxurious (a motor, oooo)and a couple thousand dollars cheaper.

18It's completely impractical for so many people, not to mention overpriced for it's limited use. And could it be less attractive? I am looking forward to the day when "going green" dis something everyone can afford, and not just another trendy thing for rich kids to be seen doing. :/
